Activision's Soldier of Fortune series returns with an emphasis on violent, bloody battles in a variety of terrorist-infested locales across the globe. As mercenary Thomas Mason, you must fight your way through areas inspired by the Middle East, Burma, Russia, and other hotspots. One of Soldier of Fortune's signature features is the over-the-top damage you can wreak on the human body. Limbs, for example, can be blown completely off, and the new character models have even more contact areas to exploit with pinpoint targeting.
Over 30 customizable weapons are available, from sub-machine guns and assault rifles to explosives and sniper rifles, as players advance through the 12-mission single-player campaign. Online support is also included with a choice of six game modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Elimination, Team Elimination, Capture the Flag, and Demolition. Stat tracking is automatically saved to online profiles, and a number of customization options exist for server settings and multiplayer-specific maps.
